Robin joined our practice in 2000 and is currently the Boarding and Grooming Manager. She oversees daily operations and long-term growth in that department as well as participating on the management team of the practice. Although her education is in accounting, Robin has been in the animal care field since childhood. She has two great daughters, two wonderful sons-in-law, and a variety of pets including lots of cats, a smattering of dogs, frogs, and a turtle. In her spare time she enjoys movies, board games, and crosswords.
“Douds has a wonderful family atmosphere. I enjoy working with like-minded people who feel that pets are very important to our lives.”
John joined our boarding and grooming staff in 2008 and loves to make animals feel like they’re coming to their second home when they board with us. He also loves to chat with their owners. When he’s not hard at work in the kennel, John likes getting lost in the rapture of music and becoming one with nature (seriously!) He has 4 awesome sisters and one “ornery” dad in his life in addition to his fat and sassy feline, Maris, that he describes as a domestic goddess.
“I love it when our “regulars” walk through our door – it’s almost like a little family reunion.”
Sandi joined our boarding and grooming team as a receptionist in 2011. She loves to meet new people and especially to reassure new clients leaving their pets in someone else’s care for the first time. Sandi has a family heritage of crocheting and quilting and carries on the tradition with craft days with her granddaughter. She also enjoys cross-stitch, reading, cooking, and making her own greeting cards. Sandi’s a bird lover and currently has a lovebird named Roxi and 2 cockatiels named Jasper and Skipper.
“I have always loved animals, so working as a receptionist helps satisfy the animal lover in me. And doggy kisses are a great perk!”
Lorrie has been grooming with us since May 2012. With over 10 years’ experience in professional pet grooming, 7 of which were in a mobile grooming truck, Lorrie not only grooms for the breed standard but for the health and well-being of the pet itself. Lorrie has a son, a daughter, and a new daughter-in-law. Her hobbies include reading, gardening, outdoor activities, horses, dog shows, and family gatherings.
“My prime focus is to educate clients on proper grooming tools and usage for their individual pets.”
Meagan became part of our boarding and grooming department in 2011. Her duties include watching over the animals, feeding them, giving them their medicine, and giving them playtime. When not at work, Meagan enjoys listening to audio books and crocheting. She has two dogs, Jenger and Jazman, and a cat named Cara.
“I love working at Douds. I love animals!”
Heather became one of our boarding attendants in 2013, bringing with her 6 years of experience training and showing dogs in agility, obedience, rally, and conformation. She has also raised rabbits and shown them in conformation and showmanship. Her animals at home include two lop-eared rabbits, three crazy cats, an old chocolate Lab, and an assortment of varying sizes and colors of chickens. She’s the oldest of four children who have all been homeschooled their whole lives. Heather is currently enrolled in the Karen Pryor Academy’s dog trainer program, and in her spare time she enjoys writing, reading, and volunteering with the local 4-Hing community.
“My favorite part of this job is helping to make the animals feel loved in their ‘home away from home’.”
Kim joined our grooming team in 2013. Her goal is for every “fur kid” to leave happy and every “fur parent” to be comfortable in the trust they have in her as a groomer. She is a graduate of Diamond Cut Dog Grooming School with a certificate in Professional All Breed Dog Grooming and Mobile Grooming. She is also a Certified Cat Groomer. She has worked with numerous professional handlers over the last 15 years grooming some of the top dogs in the area. Her family includes her husband, Scott, and daughter, Bailey, as well as two Golden Retrievers and three cats. Her Goldens, Montana and Spenser, are Therapy Dogs, Canine Good Citizens, and participants in canine cancer research. Outside of work, Kim enjoys training and walking her dogs, reading, crafts, and attending local events.
To me, this is not a job…it’s my passion! I love what I do, and I love coming in to work every day!
